In the UK, cut level C for safety gloves refers to a specific level of protection against cuts from sharp straight blades. It falls under the EN 388:2016 European standard, which outlines how cut resistance is measured for gloves.

Here's a breakdown of cut level C:

  • Protection level: Medium protection
  • Force: Up to 10 newtons of force (similar to the traditional cut level 5)
  • Applications: Ideal for handling materials that pose a moderate cut risk, such as:
    • Glass handling
    • Sheet metal
    • Construction
    • Automotive industries

Key points to remember:

  • Cut level C offers better protection than the older classification of level 5.
  • While it provides good protection against cuts, it's not suitable for very sharp objects or blades that could exert a higher force.
  • Different materials can be used to create cut level C gloves, with Kevlar and HPPE (High-Performance Polyethylene) being common options.

For specific recommendations on cut level C gloves or if you need a higher level of protection, consulting a safety equipment supplier or your employer's safety guidelines is recommended.
